and I tripped on one of those large rugs that are in the produce section at Walmart. My shoe slipped off and I ended up falling forward and putting my weight on my toe while it was bent. It started hurting immediately and I had to walk on the side of my foot to get to my car, luckily I had just finished up my shopping. That night it got really swollen and bruised. My sweet husband helped me elevate and ice it, and helped me to stay off my feet for the night.
It didn't get much better over the weekend so I went to the doctor today and had some x-rays done. He said that it's fractured, and the tendon is detached from the bone. I shouldn't bend it, and within the next four weeks the tendon should reattach on its own. I guess I won't be able to jog for the next few weeks. Even though I only do 2 miles a day at least I was actually doing it...
The funny part? The very shoes which partially caused me to fall are "perfect" to wear for this injury, he said they're a lot like the podiatry shoes people sometimes have to wear. The wedge will help the toe not to bend, and the elastic will hold it in place. Yes, I'd much rather wear my sandals than these!

I'm so sorry!!! How horrible. I can't believe the very shoe you were wearing from the accident is the one you're supposed to keep wearing. But, I must say, I would really like to have a pair of those shoes, and I can't ever find them!!!! Are yours new this season, or from last year?
No they're not from this season, I stocked up on them two years ago when I found some on clearance. I haven't seen any this year at all. :( They're so comfortable, I hope someone will start carrying them again soon!
Ouch! I broke my little toe on my right foot a few years ago. Ryan tried to grab me & pick me up. I kicked my foot out and kicked the wall. My toe was bent a really weird way and I kind of had to snap it back into place. It wasn't fun, but not nearly as bad as yours. I'm sorry. I hope that it feels better soon.
