My calendar has suddenly opened up a bit

About four years ago on a Saturday morning Derek and I were attempting to sleep in. We woke up to the sound of the microwave buttons being pushed. We heard:

Beep

Beep

Beep Beep Beep

Beep

Beep Beep

Beep

Beep Beep

Beep

It went on and on, and then we heard the microwave turn on. I quickly ran into the kitchen knowing that my children didn't know how to safely use the microwave. Upon reaching the kitchen I saw sparks and a small flame inside the microwave. I quickly opened the door and blew out the flame.

Ethan had watched while Julia decided to get her own breakfast. She had put some chicken nuggets in the microwave and tried to turn it on to heat them up. The problem was that the chicken nuggets were in a plastic bag closed with a wire twisty tie. They quickly learned the importance of not putting metal in the microwave!

This Saturday I was not awakened by the beep of the microwave, but rather the annoying buzz of my alarm clock. These days it has been even more difficult to sleep in since we have had soccer games that start at 8am on Saturday mornings. This means that we have to be up by 7:15 so we can leave at 7:45. But this Saturday was the last soccer game of the season! Maybe we'll get to sleep in a couple of times before the spring soccer starts up...

If I get to sleep past 8:00 on a Saturday, I feel blessed.

Wow, 8:00 is mid-afternoon for us! Blah. I WISH these guys would sleep in. Maybe they'd be less grumpy!!
