A sick day

**This post is not for those who may get queasy discussing the unfortunate effects of being sick...

When Ethan was 6 he enjoyed missing school. He would frequently tell me that his stomach hurt so he better stay home from school. He did this so much in fact that I had to make a rule that unless he was throwing up he had to go to school.

Julia on the other hand does not like to miss school. She woke up around 1:30 last night. I had just gotten to sleep, Derek's out of town and it always takes me longer to fall asleep when he's gone. I heard someone running to the bathroom and when I went to find out what was wrong she was throwing up over the toilet. She hadn't quite made it in time so I had a mess to clean up, I SO hate cleaning up vomit! This morning she was sick again. When I told the kids that it was time to take Ethan to school Julia ran to her room and quickly reappeared dressed and wearing her backpack. I told her that she couldn't go to school because she was sick. She started crying saying that she wanted to go to school. As we got in the car and drove to the school her sobs became more insistent and when we reached the school she kept repeating "But I want to go to school!" I asked her why and she said "I like school! At least let me go to lunch and recess." Poor kid! We are home now, and she has eaten and is running around like nothing was wrong. I'm tempted to give her her wish and send her to school, but I think I better keep her out at least for today.

Cameron is "sick" every morning. I don't know why, but he has a sore throat, upset stomach and a cough every day just before he has to go to school.

That is so funny that she wanted to go to school so badly! I never minded missing school. :)

How sad that Julia is sick!! That's so cute of her to want to go to school so badly still! I think I was kind of like her when I was in school too though...not so much wanting to go but hating to miss anything that would hurt my grade. I hope she really is all the way better now!
