A few weeks ago Ethan asked for a raise in his allowance.
He wanted 50 cents extra a week.
I told him that if he would not fight with his sister, and if he would mind his mom and dad all week that he could have a 50 cent bonus for the week.
He hasn't gotten a bonus yet.

I keep telling my kids that I'll give them an allowance, but they're never consistent about doing things. It's a battle every single day just to get simple chores done.
Once, Tyler really wanted something and I told him that he had to earn his own money to get it. Suddenly, he was very interested in doing chores. He asked me, "So how much will you pay me to take out the garbage? Like $13.00" The exact amount of money he needed to buy the thing. I told him, "Ummmm...no, it's going to take doing several chores to earn enough." He gave up after that, never earned enough and never did get what he wanted.
Darn! I was reading this and thinking what a great idea it was. It's too bad it didn't work. I wish for your sake that he'd get a raise. ;)
